The Kingdom

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Matthew 6:33

If we are commanded by Jesus himself to seek the Kingdom first, above everything else, then it must be of utmost importance to do so.  It is our prize, our heavenly calling.  And if we do seek it first, then all that we need and more will be added unto us - given to us from God himself in his Divine mercy and love.

But think about this... If we devote ourselves, our life and our being to the Kingdom, how much God will give to us. But if we put other things first, how much we can lose!

All the Gospels record this thought:

Mt 10:39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Mt 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Mr 8:35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

Lu 9:24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

Lu 17:33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

Joh 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

What would be so important in this life to forfeit anything that God himself would love to give you?  What could be so great that you lose your crown (Rev. 3:11), or your place in Christ's thousand year reign on this earth (Luke 18:17)?

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.  Matthew 5:19.
